Hyundai Auto Group has invested over $5 million into opening its first EV plant in the U.S., providing over 8,000 new jobs.
  • An all electric vehicle Hyundai production plant is set to start producing vehicles by 2025, using the Georgia Railroad.
  • To make this Hyundai Plant possible, there are a number of partnerships that have been created including the support from President Biden.
  • Support this new EV Plant by shopping at Edmond Hyundai in Edmond, OK.

Hyundai Auto Group has invested $5.4 million into opening its first electric vehicle (EV) and battery manufacturing plant in the United States. More specifically, this plant will be located in Bryan County in the Peach state. The plant will be possible by Genesee and Wyoming’s Georgia Central Railway. This exciting announcement was made this past May with the help of Georgia Governor, Brian P. Kemp, as well as executives from the Hyundai Motor Group, and state and local economic leaders. Construction of this EV plant is set to start in January of 2023. It will be up and running by 2025, producing a wide range of fully electric vehicles. This is just the beginning to this long awaited Hyundai investment, so keep reading to find out more!

Prime Location

The annual production and capacity of this plant is to range in 300,000 vehicles. Taking advantage of the Georgia Railroad, this plant would bring in enough materials to support this expected production rate. It will also push out the finished vehicles, making it the largest project in Georgia state history. The location of this world-class project plant is adjacent to Interstate 16 as well as having immediate access from I-95 and I-16 to over 200 major metropolitan areas.

It’s only 28 miles from the Port of Savannah which is another positive impact that will come along with this construction. It will create over 8,000 new jobs to the Savannah area. Being one of the world’s most successful and futuristic auto brands, Georgia officials say they are happy to be a part of this huge step for Hyundai Auto Group. They are proud to share the plans for this full EV and battery manufacturing plant. The specific details of their production schedule will be available at a later date.

Partnerships That Make This Possible

As you can probably imagine, some Georgians might not be as ecstatic about the increase in traffic. Rest assured that a lot of leaders, other business owners, and communities are taking these things into consideration. But they are overall excited about beginning this project and the economic boost it could provide. It not only would bring about job opportunities, but it would essentially put Georgia more “on the map”, as the saying goes.

Euisun Chung, Hyundai Motor Group’s Executive Chair expresses their excitement in partnering with the state of Georgia. Chung has also discussed the EV plant construction with President Joe Biden. They highlight the local economic development and Class 1 rail partners that will guarantee to meet customer needs as well as bring overall increased business to the area. Governor Kemp stated, “We are proud to welcome Hyundai Motor Group to Georgia as we forge an innovative future together. From initial conversations on my economic development mission to Korea to Georgia’s investment in the Bryan County Megasite, we’ve been preparing for an opportunity like this for a long time.”

Texas leads by example with the innovative solution of placing charging stations every 50-70 miles on interstates for EVs
  • Hyundai auto brand is working with the state of Texas to build a network of EV charging stations across the state.
  • The start of this construction will begin January 2023 and will take approximately 5 years according to their plan.
  • Electric Vehicles are for sale at Emond Hyundai in Oklahoma.

Picture this: you recently bought your first electric car and are taking it on a road trip. You, being a new EV owner, you misjudge how far you’re able to make it and wind up stuck on the side of the road–ruining the road trip vibe AND you have to pay a towing bill. Yikes! Well, Texas has put into motion a solution for this avoidable inconvenience. Making long distance travel easier for a new generation of cars, Texas plans to be able to support 1 million electric vehicles by adding dozens of electric vehicle charging stations throughout the state. At Edmond Hyundai we find this innovative solution to be the answer to this problem in many states, including here in Edmond, Oklahoma. Keep reading to get a deeper understanding of this plan!

Texas EV Charging Stations Plan

Texas, being the second largest state in America comes with a big environmental responsibility, and they are stepping up to the plate! The Texas Department of transportation has laid out a five-year plan to build a network of charging stations across the state. They plan to start with main corridors and interstate highways, then move to building these stations in rural areas. The main goal is to place charging stations every 50 miles along most non-business interstate routes. In other areas of Texas, they plan to have electric charging stations every 70 miles. They will be equipped with multiple stalls for ease of use. They will also be high powered at 150kW, which charges most electric vehicles from 10% to 80% in around just 30 minutes. Browse a book or catch up on your favorite TV show, but you won’t have to stay for long!

The Federal Infrastructure and Jobs Act

Nationally, The Federal Infrastructure and Jobs Act passed last year has a goal of creating a network of over 500,000 easy to use yet reliable electric vehicle charging stations by 2023. Oklahoma’s time is coming soon! Texas’ funding is coming from this act, which is allocating $408 million to the state over the 5 year plan period to expand its number of charging stations throughout the state. However, no funds from the state budget will be used. Additionally from the infrastructure act, Texas is estimated to receive around 35.44 billion over the same five years for bridges, roads, ports, pipes, and broadband access with some additional projects.

As of May 31, 2022, there were only 129,0010 electric vehicles in Texas according to the TDT report. That means less than 1% of vehicles in Texas are electric. There’s always room to grow! However, experts are looking at the rapid buying rates and meeting the demand for electric vehicles on the road. Since 2020, the total number of electric vehicles has almost tripled as more and more people buy into the technology.

Start of Construction in January 2023

Texas’ governor Greg Abbott is gung-ho about implementing these electric charging stations. He stresses their importance, “Texas’ sheer volume of roadway miles leaves ample opportunity for EV charging deployment. The plan should ensure that every Texan can access the infrastructure they need to charge an EV,” Abbott wrote. “Additionally, I direct TxDOT and stakeholders to include in the plan a way for Texans to easily get from Beaumont to El Paso and Texline to Brownsville in an EV–with a focus on rural placement and connectivity.” Texas is currently gathering public comments and concerns, then the plan will be finalized by Aug 1, 2022 to the Federal Highway Administration. Officials will then create contracts for construction beginning in January 2023.

  • First year: Texas will add 48 new charging locations to meet the 50-mile FHWA requirement. There are already 27 existing locations and 26 more locations that will be possible by a separate grant. The state will have about 101 electric vehicle charging stations by 2024!
  • Second year: Texas will be focusing on building charging stations in small urban areas, rural counties, and other areas advised by metropolitan planning organizations.
  • Third through fifth year: These years of implementation will continue to focus on building out charging networks in smaller and rural areas. They have a lot of ground to cover! Since this endeavor will be using more power and electricity, stations could come with a combination of solar and battery equipment to level out power supplies.

2023 Hyundai Palisade Models

Hyundai plans to release this bold and refined Palisade this summer. They have yet to give a set release date, but just know that the new 2023 Hyundai Palisade will be here soon.

Along with the SE, SEL, Limited, and Calligraphy models, the 2023 Palisade comes in an all new XRT trim. This rugged looking variant sits right in between the SEL and Limited and is similar to the existing Santa Fe XRT and Tucson XRT. The Palisade XRT comes with 20-inch wheels, blacked-out trim, and unique rear skid plates. On this model, the roof rails will receive a darker finish, along with the leather upholstery on the inside.

The pricing on the 2023 Hyundai Palisade is a bit higher than its 2022 predecessors, but with the advanced features and upgraded exterior, it is definitely worth it. The base model Hyundai Palisade SE comes in at $36,245, while the top-of-the-line Calligraphy sits at $52,095. The rugged XRT addition is priced at $41,545. The XRT is positioned between the $39,245 SEL and the $47,795 Limited.

Interior, Cargo, and Performance

The SE and SEL trims of the 2023 Palisade seat eight passengers, while the XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy seat seven with second-row captain’s chairs. No matter the model, there is still plenty of space. The 12-inch touchscreen display has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, in-dash navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth connectivity. Hyundai’s BlueLink service also enables you to lock, unlock, and remote start the car through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Cargo volume with all three rows in use is about 18 cubic feet, but that increases to 46 cubic feet with the third row folded down and 86 with all rear seats folded. There is also space beneath the load floor in the rear for extra storage.

The Palisade is powered by a 3.8-liter V6 engine and comes standard with an eight speed automatic transmission. Like previous Palisades, the 2023 produces 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. On the SE, SEL, XRT, and Limited models, FWD is standard and can be upgraded to AWD; however, AWD is standard on the Calligraphy. When equipped with AWD, the 2023 Palisade also includes Tow Mode which can haul a whopping 5,000 pounds.

Now onto the Palisade’s fuel economy. According to the EPA, the FWD Palisade manages 19-MPG city and 26-MPG highway. The AWD Palisade is rated at 19-MPG city and 24-MPG highway. The 2023 Hyundai Palisade also comes standard with key safety features like automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-assist, and adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous driving mode.

2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-In Hybrid in Black
  • The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid offers an upgraded performance and an overall upgraded design.
  • Designed as the perfect family vehicle, a heavy focus on interior space and functionality make it obvious that auto makers achieved their goal.
  • Find the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid for sale at Edmond Hyundai in Oklahoma.

Founded in Seoul, South Korea and arriving in the states in 1986, Hyundai is a long-time celebrated automaker. The company has received high praise and numerous awards over the years. With that being said, the recent success of the Hyundai brand is no surprise. As of late, seemingly every new Hyundai seems to make a splash– with every new model somehow surpassing the last. The 2022 Hyundai Santa-Fe Plug-In Hybrid is a part of this phenomenon.

What’s new on the 2022 Santa Fe Plug-in Hybrid

Hyundai’s mid-sized family SUV saw its major redesign in the 2021 model year. The PHEV offers something for everyone. For example, a plug-in hybrid version which combines a gas-electric hybrid powertrain with a larger battery and the ability to drive gas-free for some distance before the on-board engine flips on to extend the driving range.

Engine and Electric

The 2022 Santa Fe Plug-In Hybrid has a good-sized 13.8-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. This is good for an electric-only range of 30-miles before the engine turns on. At which point the Santa Fe is rated at 33mpg combined, and 76 mpg-equivalent. This allows a theoretical total range of 440 miles before refueling is needed.

The hybrid SUV fuses a small, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder gas engine producing 178-horsepower with a 90-hp permanent-magnet electric motor and an actual geared six-speed automatic transmission. The automatic transmission is not a continuously variable unit, although it is more common for PHEVs. The plug-in hybrid also has HTRAC (Hyundai’s all-wheel-drive system) as standard equipment. According to Hyundai, the powertrain makes a combined 261 hp. Although the addition of the bigger battery pack does take some room from the interior passenger volume, by Hyundai’s measurements, cargo capacity is not affected in the least.

Charging

According to Hyundai, it takes about four hours on a Level 2 240-volt charger to recharge the Santa Fe Hybrid with a spent battery. This model has a 3.6-kilowatt onboard charger at 240-volts as well. Because this PHEV has a battery far smaller than anything offered by full EV, there is no DC fast charging offered.

Driving

The New Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid drives quite well in EV mode, with a meter in the gauge cluster to inform you on how much throttle to apply and stay within EV mode. Throttle applied too much or too quickly will click the digital gauge to the right and the engine will power on. That’s because the Hybrid will think you need quick speed. However, if the Santa Fe is driven coolly and naturally, it will happily drive through your town as a pleasant traveler burning absolutely no gasoline.

Although this model is a plug-in hybrid electric, it feels very normal to drive. It may not have the most powerful engine, but the 2022 Santa Fe stands out in other ways. Perfect for growing families, the SUV is more than enough to get up to the speed of traffic. The six-speed transmission stands out because you can feel it mellowly shifting as you accelerate. But there’s no noise that comes from the movement. It doesn’t feel like other PHEVs who use a continuously variable automatic and deliver their power in one long, uniform surge. The car also differs from a gas-engine vehicle that switches its pitch each time the transmission shifts.

Additionally, despite the extra weight of its electric motor and large battery pack, the vehicle handles quite easily. All-in-all, the 2022 Santa Fe PHEV calls for smooth-sailing, while riding in a quiet and comfortable SUV.

IONIQ 5 Wins World Car Of The Year
By Michael Kinney

NEW YORK– The World Car Finals may have to change its name. After the dominance shown by one company during the car of the year awards, it may be better suited to rename it the Hyundai Awards.

Held at the annual New York International Auto Show, the World Car Finals has turned into the Oscars or Grammys for the automobile industry. And the big winner this year was without a doubt Hyundai.

Out of the six award categories that were featured, Hyundai walked away with three honors. That includes the prestigious World Car of the Year with its 2022 All-Electric IONIQ 5.

2022 World Car Of The Year Goes To The Hyundai IONIQ 5

“Our vision is to enable Progress for Humanity, and this endorsement of our approach will serve to embolden our commitment to make this vision a reality,” said Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company. “IONIQ 5 represents a pivotal achievement for us as we pioneer a new generation of smart mobility solutions with our innovative E-GMP platform technologies, exceptional performance and disruptive approach to design and space. IONIQ 5 has made a strong impression on increasingly eco-conscious consumers around the world, and its success supports the acceleration of electrification of the automotive industry. The pace of change at Hyundai will continue unabated through the rest of 2022 as we will soon be adding to our award-winning IONIQ range.”

The IONIQ5 beat out the Ford Mustang Mach E and the KIA EV6 to take home the top award. It was recognized by a jury of 102 automotive journalists from 33 countries around the world.

The innovative battery electric vehicle (BEV), was a major reason for the car’s success.

More Awards For The IONIQ 5 At World Car Finals

The IONIQ 5 also grabbed the World Car Design of the Year and the first-ever World Electric Car of the Year.

“It is a great honor for us. It means a lot to the entire Hyundai motor family. I’d like to say thank you to everyone on behalf of us at Hyundai,” Chang said. “For Hyundai, this is just one step in a long journey to provide more solutions for more people, in more places. We look forward to bringing more to market. Including more brands to the future. I’m confident our team will continue to deliver more designs and deliver sustained solutions and services.”

It should not have been a surprise that Hyundai would have such a banner day. Earlier in the program, Luc Donckerwolke, Hyundai Motor Group’s Executive Vice President for Design and Chief Creative Officer was named the 2022 World Car Person of the Year by The World Car Awards jury panel representing 102 journalists from 33 countries.

Donckerwolke was chosen by the jury since he has held design responsibility for a number of highly innovative new models, including the Hyundai IONIQ5, Genesis GV60 and Kia EV6, which were launched over the past year. All three automobiles were a finalist in at least one of the World Car categories this year.

“Imagine giving your kids a prize because he plays with his toys,” Donckerwolke said. “Well, this is how I feel. I’m just a tree hiding in the forest, meaning my great design team. There are good designers everywhere. What makes a difference is management that trusts and empowers the design. This is why I am so grateful to work with a group that trusts us.”

Hyundai Unveiled The 2023 Palisade

While it was a day to celebrate 2022, Hyundai officials were also looking ahead to the future when they unveiled the 2023 Palisade SUV.

The new Palisade still has a 3.8-liter V6 with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque.

Customers will notice right away the taller and wider grille that blends meaninglessly with the upper daytime running lights on the newly designed Palisade.

Designers also added a new trim level, which they are calling the XRT. It has black roof rails and dark alloy wheels to give it a serious look. As do the 20-inch wheels

It also includes black faun leather, a sunroof, and a wider center screen (12-inches across, with 720p resolution).

And for those who just like to show off, drivers of the 2003 Hyundai Palisade can move the automobile frontward and backward just using the key fob—while standing outside. Because of its size, this technology allows it to get in and out of cramped spaces a little easier.

“The design of the 2023 Palisade conveys dignified refinement with clear differentiation worthy of a flagship SUV,” a Hyundai spokesman stated. “A wider cascading grille form outlines rugged parametric shield elements for a premium appearance. The new forward lighting signature features vertically connected LED composite lights that frame the grille creating a sharp-edged, technical appeal. New, multi-spoke alloy wheels fill the wheel openings for a solid, premium appearance.”

The 2023 Palisade is expected to go on sale this summer. A price tag has not been announced as of yet.

Hyundai Palisade Named A Safest Crossover SUV

In the 2022 “Top Safety Picks+”, awarded by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), Hyundai SUV crossovers received numerous victories, being ranked among the top 22 safest crossover SUVs.

The Appeal of a Crossover SUV

While domestic full-size pickup trucks sell in greater numbers per model, crossover SUVs have been gaining enormous traction in the United States. Recently, crossover SUVs have become an extremely popular form of transportation among all walks of life: singles, families, and empty nesters. Perhaps it is the extra room offered for passengers, the taller ride height, or even the easy handling of these vehicles; whatever the reason, crossover SUVs have found their way into the heart of America.

Growing families account for a large portion of the crossover SUV’s popularity in America– especially seven-passenger models. Families require something roomy, easy to drive, and safe. It’s extremely important to choose an SUV that keeps its passenger protected in a collision with minimal chance of serious injuries, and comes equipped with high-tech safety gear that can prevent collisions from occurring in the first place. That is why Hyundai set out to make the safest crossover SUV on the market, to protect families.

According to the IIHS, this year’s crossover SUV market is among the best in regards to safety. 2022 produced 34 small, midsize, and luxury crossovers earning the IIHS’ Top Safety Pick+, and another 20 crossovers earning the Top Safety Pick (without the plus) award.

About the Awards

The IIHS is an “independent, nonprofit scientific and educational organization dedicated to reducing deaths, injuries and property damage from motor vehicle crashes through research and evaluation and through education of consumers, policymakers and safety professionals.”

In 2006, the nonprofit began ranking vehicles by safety with the Top Safety Pick awards, and in 2013 inaugurated the Top Safety Pick+ awards, holding vehicles at an even higher standard.

To achieve the ranking of Top Safety Pick, a given model must receive good scores in all of IIHS’ crashworthiness tests, including front and side-impact tests, and both driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal crash tests that replicate hitting a tree or light pole. Each model then can earn a “superior” or “advanced” designation for its standard or optional forward emergency automatic braking system. Superior-rated systems have the ability to automatically apply the brakes if necessary to avoid a crash or reduce speeds by at least 5mph in two tests conducted at 12 and 25 mph. A model with “advanced” rating must be able to avoid a collision in one of the two tests.

To achieve the illusive “Plus” status, a vehicle must further offer good or acceptable-rated headlights as standard equipment (non-plus models have to, at the very least, offer them as optional equipment somewhere within the model line.) Being able to light up the road ahead is too often overlooked, but is still a critical element of vehicle safety, as about half of traffic deaths occur in the dark, and a quarter of them on unlit roads. Many of the models rated poorly in this designation don’t provide enough illumination to enable a driver going 55 mph on a straight road to stop in time after seeing an obstacle in the vehicle’s path.

Keep in mind that frontal crash-test results can only be accurately compared among same-size vehicles, due to the laws of physics. So, a top-rated compact car does not necessarily provide the same level of occupant protection as a larger sedan or SUV in a given collision. Side-impact tests, conversely, can be readily compared across the vehicle size and weight classifications due to the manner in which they are conducted.

2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE Lake View

In 2019, Hyundai debuted the Kona Electric – an EV which demonstrated to the world that Hyundai could create an exceptional electric vehicle. In fact, the year that Kona Electric was released, the model made its way to the top of the best EV lists. Now, with the coming release of the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE crossover, Hyundai proves that they are one of the top EV producers in the game.

Hyundai, who finds its appeal among bargain hunters and those looking for vehicles to fit the whole family in, will become a fierce competitor in the electric crossover market as the Ioniq 5 moves into premium territory.

While the electric model was launched last year in other regions such as South Korea, Europe, and Australia, the 2022 Ioniq 5 SE is scheduled to hit American markets this spring. So, without further ado, let’s look into the features of this model and see why Hyundai’s EVs are world-class.

The Look Of The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE

This 2022 Electric Hyundai combines past and present with its appearance: bringing modernity to the classic SUV-styled small crossover. The exterior is sleek and attractive, introducing sharp lines and a well-balanced chassis to the box-shaped SUV. The interior, too, melds together minimalism with luxury.

Ioniq 5 Charging Ability

The Ioniq 5 SE boasts a competitive range of up to 303 miles, while all trim levels proudly possess a package of advanced safety and driver assist features, top of the industry charging speed, and powerful all-wheel drive options.

The vehicle’s 800-volt electrical architecture can handle ultra fast recharging on road trips (the industry standard is 400 volts). While other 800-volt EVs will be produced, most will be in the super-premium and luxury range: the Porsche Taycan is the only other EV available today that offers 800-volt charging.

The common 150-kilowatt charger, which can recharge a 90 percent depleted battery back up to 80 percent capacity in 25 minutes, falls far behind the Hyundai EV which for a 90 percent depleted Ioniq 5 battery, the same recharge is 18 minutes on 250-kilowatt DC fast-chargers.

In terms of home charging, the 2022 Ioniq 5 SE’s standard 11 kilowatt Level 2, 240-volt onboard chargers allows the car to charge in about six hours and 45 minutes.

Fuel Electric Efficiency

In 2021, Hyundai created early production versions of the impressive Ioniq 5 Limited available for a nearly 175-mile test drive through the mountains of San Diego County. The test drive involved a fast-charge demonstration in a shopping mall across from the U.S.-Mexico barrier.

In terms of efficiency, the Hyundai EV tested was rated for 256 miles of range, showing 65 miles of range remaining at the end of the drive– pointing to the fact that only about 16 miles of range were lost to hill climbing and driving with a lead-foot. Still, the Ioniq 5 SE proves to be incredible, as the EPA listed the vehicle among the top 10 EVs for overall efficiency.

The EV was decorated with a four-level regenerative braking system, which garners energy as the model slows. The Ioniq 5 crossover also has the “i-Pedal” setting, just as the Kona electric, which gives the system enough power to bring the vehicle to a complete stop without stepping a foot on the brakes.

Acting similarly to downshifting in a gas vehicle, this feature is quite handy in stop-and-go traffic and mountain driving.

Drivability

Built on an EV-specific modular platform co-developed by Hyundai and Kia, the Hyundai Electric’s skateboard design places the batteries under the vehicle’s floor and between the axles for a low, road-hugging center of gravity that creates a well-balanced ride.

During the test drive, the Ioniq 5 faced Southern California freeways, city streets, winding country roads, and tackled a 5,000 foot mountain – both up and down. As a whole, the new model was found to be very roomy with stellar visibility, decent handling, a lot of power, an almost luxury class cabin, and a very comfortable ride.

Claiming a time of 5.1 seconds for a zero-to-60 mph, the 2022 Electric Hyundai’s 320-horsepower dual-motor, all-wheel drive powertrain (available in all three trims) proves the model is pretty dang fast.

With sporty handling and comfortable ride quality, the Ioniq crossover approaches country and urban roads and freeways with ease. The vehicle offers a sport mode, which adjusts the accelerator and steering for top-level responsiveness; in this mode, the vehicle has tight and responsive steering. There’s also a normal mode and an eco mode which slows things down, even climate settings, to conserve battery power. All three of the AWD models utilize an energy-saving heat pump instead of an electric heater for cabin conditioning.

Best Cars For The Money Gold Logo

The 2022 Best Cars for the Money awards were presented by US News & World Report, a global authority in rankings and consumer advice. The awards, which allocated and spanned 11 classifications, include honors for cars, SUVs, and minivans that offer the finest balance of long-term value and a great ownership experience.

When it comes to a new car to buy, especially towards new vehicle owners and selecting the perfect one, it really does “require more than just the price tag”, said Jim Sharifi, Managing Editor of U.S. News Best Cars. “The cheapest automobile on the lot can impact a lot on the cost of high ownership, or it may be unfit for the buyer’s requirements and expectations. The best cars for the Money designation denotes a very high degree of value and advantages at the dealership as well as over the vehicle’s lifespans. These vehicles also provide adequate awareness in order to attract ownership conveniences by letting customers try out perks, comfort, and performance that they appreciate associating with the type of cars these customers want to purchase..

Winning The Big Award

Hyundai has been the only brand to win five Best Cars for the Money accolades this year, more than any other car brand. Honda received three awards, while Kia, Nissan, and Toyota obtained only one. This is the sixth time that the Honda Odyssey has won, further establishing its name. But the Hyundai Kona, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Hyundai Tucson, all earned this honorable award for the second time. In addition, the Hyundai Elantra Hybrid, and Hyundai Tucson Hybrid each received this award for the very first time.

Below are the awards for the Best Cars For The Money that Hyundai received in 2022:

  • Best 2-Row SUV for the Money: 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe
  • Best Compact SUV for the Money: 2022 Hyundai Tucson
  • Best Hybrid and Electric Car for the Money” 2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid
  • Best Hybrid and Electric SUV for the Money: 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid
  • Best Subcompact SUV for the Money: 2022 Hyundai Kona

Top of Hyundai Ioniq 7 SUV

Clear the road! Hyundai’s got an upcoming vehicle that’ll have other EVs shaking in their tires. Make room for the boldest electric concept by Hyundai to date, the Ioniq 7!

Making its world premiere at the 2021 Automobility LA Convention, Hyundai has presented the almighty Hyundai Ioniq 7 SUV! This is the latest concept SUV that was released within the “Ioniq” sub-brand of electric battery automobiles under Hyundai. We would like to emphasize the word “concept” when discussing the Hyundai Seven since it has not made its way to production … yet! Its estimated production year is 2024. We’re so enchanted by all that the Hyundai Seven has to offer that there’s no use in keeping our excitement inside! It blends ancient historic elements while creating history itself! It’s luxurious but not stuffy. It encapsulates what’s needed for a mindful, modern driver who wants to drive in style. Hyundai will be proudly blending generations through this concept’s luxury. Our favorite automaker never ceases to fail us!

Seven is the New Number One!

This all electric Hyundai is the biggest concept to date that we’ve seen from the cutting-edge South Korean automaker, potentially literally and figuratively. This is an extra-large SUV that only comes in extra-large. It has an extra tall grille that enhances its perception of being an “oversized” SUV. The Hyundai Seven has a wheelbase that stretches out to be 10.5 ft. It also has a ground clearance of 8 inches! The 2020 Lincoln Navigator, and Dodge Durango, and other oversized SUV trucks will have to make room for this substantial vehicle! It comes in two-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations. The latter option comes with 308 hp! It charges in a flash! You’ve heard the idiom of going “0 to 100 in a second”? Hyundai aims to personify this idea through the concept vehicle’s ability to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in about 20 minutes! It holds 800-volt hardware which could enable it to recover 62 miles in as little as 5 minutes. Mind you, a fully-charged battery would hold the capacity of driving “over 300 miles”. Hyundai is developing wireless charging for all vehicles with EGMP platform models! This Hyundai EV is built on the electric-global modular platform. This ‘platform’ includes the vehicle’s motor and power electric system, its wheelbase, and its battery. It upgrades an electric vehicle’s performance, so your car fits your lifestyle.

It’s impossible to bypass the pixelated decorations on the exterior of the Hyundai concept car. The pixels can be found in the vertical rectangular headlights that are placed on the opposite sides of the deluxe-sized grille. The lights can be spotted in the daytime running lights that run as a full-width line across the hood of the car. It holds a memorizing glass rear hatch. This glass feature takes up most of the rear-facing real estate on the vehicle in replacement of a rear windshield and trunk space. Wait, with glass in the back, cushy seats in the interior, where’s the storage space? Hyundai keeps us guessing by placing the designated storage space or “trunk” space under the hood.

The Hyundai Seven holds a sleek and muscular silhouette that can be identified through the body’s avant-garde shape. Opening the Hyundai’s oval-shaped, coach-style doors reveals, in the Hyundai Motor Group’s own words, a “more fluid interior layout”. You’re immediately welcomed by three rows of seats. The front and passenger seats hold the ability to pivot and slide around with another set of seats behind them. The third row of seats present as a bench with couch-like seats that sweep from side to side in the rear. The seats go against the leather or carpet default options in modern vehicles. Hyundai wants to reestablish standards by premiering upholstered seats in boucle wool and the renewable copper weaved within the fibers.

The Interior Of The Sustainable Hyundai Seven

The automaker’s innovative designs smack away at the broad term of the “future”, and wants to give upcoming generations a tangible promise toward the greater tomorrow. They’re committed to transforming the world of mobility with sustainable and innovative solutions for the benefit of people and the planet. Not only is this proved by this vehicle’s electric features, but in the technology within the interior.

Hyundai stands firm in its hygienic and environmentally friendly aspects that are assured to come to future production models. The Hyundai EV has a hygiene mode that sterilizes the interior once the vehicle is unoccupied. It has built-in UVC lights that are set to kill viruses and bacteria! The AC is controlled by two separate units with air coming from the dashboard and from the ceiling! Emulating the airflow as on an airplane, the front occupants will never breathe the same air as back seat passengers. In efforts to thoroughly filter the air, there’s a vent in the car’s floor that sucks the air out, maintaining a cleaning system even in the air we breathe!

The upholstered seats mentioned before are no regular wool seats but an even greater step toward sustainability. The interior surfaces are made of renewable and recycled materials like bamboo and copper. Silk bamboo can be found in the carpet and the wood trim. They’re extensively using copper which is excellent in stopping the spread of viruses and bacteria. Hyundai is really pushing engineers for this feature in the product as copper can be woven into the hygienically-treated fabric of the seats.

The Hyundai Ioniq 7 Is A Look into the Future

With recent conversations around artificial intelligence, Hyundai wants to reassure us that “futuristic” doesn’t mean “without humans”. “Machines intended to replace humanity counter the intentions within the Hyundai Seven.” as said by Thomas Schemera, the Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer. The goal of the Hyundai concept car is to help you prioritize human relationships while in the car, perhaps “family” time with passengers or “me” time for solo drives.

The Hyundai is designed around level 4 self-driving capability which doesn’t even exist yet! You read that right, this concept involves a self-driving car! This would mean the car is programmed to intervene by stopping itself in the event of system failure. A human in the driver’s seat would still be needed! This level of technology won’t be possible until there’s a change in certain infrastructure and rules! Its reimagined interior and self-driving talents are meant to redefine what your time in your car means to you!

In the latter half of 2023, It’s likely that the Ioniq 7 will be displayed in showrooms. In 2024, the Hyundai Ioniq 7 is predicted to be in production and on sale worldwide. What do you picture yourself driving in the future?

Hyundai Elantra With New Car Chip

The Tough Times Are Over

The previous months of August and September were some of the toughest months for Hyundai Motors because of the industry car chip shortage. Thankfully, Hyundai was able to make it through those tough months, and the chief operating officer put out a statement declaring that Hyundai will start producing its own chips and reduce their reliance on chipmakers. The shortage did not affect only Hyundai, but the entire industry which cut North American production by 1.98 million cars and trucks. After this grueling year of shortages, and losses of money, many automotive companies are on the up and up, especially Hyundai who will continue to rise in sales

How The Pandemic Created Car Chip Challenges In The Industry

Because of the worldwide pandemic, demands for laptops and other electronic products were through the roof causing there to be a high demand for semiconductors. This surge from electronics shattered some of the auto production lines this past year. Hyundai was then forced to suspend some factories because they would not have made it through the months. The car computer chip industry is making efforts to expand the capacity and is spending a significant amount of money to try and make it happen. Hyundai has decided a different route and would like to decrease their dependency on the industry by developing their own.

Despite The Car Chip Shortage, Hyundai Has Increased Sales

Although the months of August and September were very difficult for Hyundai Motors, their global sales have increased alongside Toyota and Tesla. After seeing the Asian market recover strongly, Munoz said that Hyundai decided not to cut orders during the pandemic; thus, not slowing doing their business.

Turning The Corner On The Car Chip Shortage

By the fourth quarter, Hyundai wants to be back on track and produce cars and trucks for the U.S. market line with its original business plan. Hyundai plans to plant the new microchips in their vehicles by next year. At the end of May 2021, Hyundai announced that they had a 56% sales increase from the previous May, setting a company sales record. Comparing Hyundai to companies like Ford, whose losses range between $1 and 2.5 billion, Hyundai is doing extremely well despite the hardships.

Did Hyundai Predict The Microchip Shortage?

Speculation has risen about whether or not Hyundai foresaw the car chip shortage and stockpiled them because it would easily explain their successful sales they have had compared to many other automotive companies. During the pandemic, the sales chief, Randy Parker, focused on selling the best cars that companies offered like the Elantra, Tucson and Santa Fe and focused production on these vehicles. Even though Hyundai shut down production in the month of April they are still doing far better than other competitors. Whether or not they planned on the car chip shortage, the development of their own chips for cars will become a very important aspect of the business plan and continue to help them succeed in the automotive industry.

Hyundai’s Best Sellers And How They Made it Through Shortage

Hyundai has always been known for developing vehicles at a respectable price. The Tucson being one is a best seller for a simple reason: the compact crossover delivers power and efficiency while maintaining an eco-friendly standard. The Santa Fe is another best seller because it was awarded a Top Safety Pick award for it’s a modern design and excellent technological advancements. Lastly the Elantra has claimed its spot on the bestseller list because of its dependability and affordability. Despite the difficult times, Hyundai has pushed through and managed to maintain and develop award winning vehicles that promise safety, efficiency and affordability.
