To celebrate International Women's Day, Hyundai has created the Women is STEM Scholarship. The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Scholarship helps shape and define the next generation of women leaders. Edmond Hyundai supports women in STEM in OKC. With a world that is changing so rapidly, STEM has become an ever increasing interest in the education system & workforce. It challenges minds to problem solve, make sense of information, and to know how to gather/evaluate evidence to make decisions. STEM fields will be an essential skill for young leaders to understand and solve complex challenges of today and tomorrow. The scholarship goes to 5 female STEM students residing in the United States who will each receive $10,000. Hyundai is asking senior high school students and college undergraduates to write an essay of 500 words or more on why they have chosen a STEAM-related career field for their future, and what is driving them to be and do better. COVID -19 Update: WE ARE OPEN What we are doing to keep ourselves and our customers safe: 1.     We have commercial cleaning that is done every night. 2.     Cleaning and bleaching all bathrooms every night. 3.     We have added an additional nightly cleaning crew to clean, disinfect and wipe down all high contact areas and surfaces, chairs, doorknobs, phones, desks and tables. 4.     Every day, multiple times a day, employees are wiping down and sanitizing high traffic surfaces (door knobs, tables, chairs etc.) 5.     There are multiple sanitation areas around our stores. 6.     Our shuttle drivers have sanitation bottles to wipe down the shuttle after each run. 7.     Signs are posted in all bathrooms with CDC guidelines on washing your hands. Hyundai is celebrating 20 years of saving lives and creating hope through fundraising during the month of September, Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. This month of fundraising is referred to as Hyundai Hope On Wheels and sponsored at Edmond Hyundai yearly. A donation is made by Hyundai for every new Hyundai vehicle sold so that over $145 million has been raised in the past 20 years. Edmond Hyundai is excited to raise money alongside Hyundai to help children fight cancer. So far this month, Hyundai has presented 5 hospitals across the country with hundreds of thousands of dollars in Grants to support pediatric cancer research. Through these Grants, Rady Children's Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Uh Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital, and Heroes-Columbia University Irving Medical Center will further pediatric cancer research. The money earned through Hyundai Hope On Wheels enables research into pediatric cancer prevention and raises awareness for child cancer. Donations exceeded our expectations. In continuing partnership with the American Red Cross, Edmond Hyundai was given the opportunity to hold a donation event in the slow season for the organization. This event ran from 12:30-6:30 on June 15, 2018 and by contributions of staff and the surrounding community we were able to meet donation needs and exceed them extensively. All participating donors were given a free oil change by Edmond Hyundai and a free t-shirt by the American Red Cross. We wish to send a personal thank you to the staff of Edmond Hyundai and the American Red Cross for coming together for this event. Hyundai had a very impressive lineup of new vehicles available to check out at the International Auto Show in Oklahoma City. The event, which is annual, showcased the best of the new technology and design in the automotive industry. Hyundai brought it's classic lineup of the Elantra, Sonata and Santa Fe, all of which were sharp and stood out in the clean layout of the Hyundai space.
