The 2026 Hyundai Kona is a subcompact SUV available in nine colors with a standard or turbocharged 4-cylinder engine option.

The 2026 Hyundai Kona Subcompact SUV Built For The Way People Actually Live

The 2026 Hyundai Kona offers a streamlined four-trim lineup with a choice between a standard 2.0-liter engine and a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine. From the value-focused SE to the near-luxury Limited, the 2026 Hyundai Kona lineup gives budget-conscious buyers and comfort-seekers alike a clear path to the right fit. Starting around $25,500, the 2026 Kona pairs strong fuel economy and a comprehensive standard safety suite with class-leading warranty coverage. The subcompact SUV segment is crowded, but the 2026 Hyundai Kona makes a strong case for itself by focusing on what buyers actually use every day. Hyundai simplified the 2026 Kona trim lineup, added a turbocharged engine option, and refined the cabin without pushing the price into compact SUV territory. Whether someone is commuting across Edmond, running errands around Oklahoma City, or looking for a first SUV that will not feel outgrown in a year, the 2026 Kona has an answer. 2026 Hyundai Kona Overview For 2026, Hyundai streamlined the Kona lineup from a more fragmented set of trims down to four clear options: SE, SEL Sport, SEL Premium, and Limited. Now, the decision of which Hyundai Kona to get mostly comes down to two things: whether you want the standard engine or the turbo, and how much interior polish you want. Two Engines To Choose Between The 2026 Hyundai Kona offers two distinct personalities depending on the engine. Front-wheel drive is standard across the 2026 Kona lineup, and Hyundai's HTRAC all-wheel drive system is available on every trim for added traction in rain or snow. Choosing AWD also brings a more sophisticated multi-link rear suspension in place of the standard torsion beam setup, which improves ride quality and handling. The SE and SEL Sport trims use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. This engine produces 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). SEL Premium and Limited trims step up to a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. This engine produces 190 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, matched with a traditional 8-speed automatic transmission. MPG Is A Strong Suit Fuel economy is one of the strong suits for the 2026 Hyundai Kona. The 2.0-liter engine returns an estimated 31 mpg combined, making it one of the more efficient choices in the segment. The turbocharged 1.6-liter engine trades a bit of that efficiency for performance, returning an estimated 28 mpg combined. For most commuters, either engine will mean fewer stops at the pump and lower fuel costs over the life of the vehicle. 0-60 MPH Acceleration is where the choice between engines becomes most obvious. The 2026 Hyundai Kona base 2.0-liter engine is built for efficiency rather than speed, with a 0-60 mph time in the 9.0 to 9.8 second range depending on the drivetrain. The turbocharged 1.6-liter engine is a different story. Independent testing put the 2026 Hyundai Kona in the 7.5 to 7.8 second range for 0-60 mph. A Reshaped Interior Hyundai reshaped the cabin for the 2026 Kona so that it feels more open and less cluttered, with smarter storage areas and a cleaner dashboard layout. Soft-touch materials appear throughout, and available H-Tex leatherette seating on the SEL Premium and Limited trims gives the cabin a more upscale feel. Front seats are supportive, and higher trims add power adjustment with lumbar support. Rear passengers get generous headroom and legroom, with rear-seat legroom measuring 38.2 inches, plus a 60/40 split-folding rear seat that also reclines. Interior color options for the 2026 Hyundai Kona are Black and Gray, which are available in cloth on entry trims and premium leatherette on higher trims. Cargo space is genuinely useful too, with 25.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats expanding to 63.7 cubic feet when they are folded flat. A flat load floor and a clever cargo cover that stows out of the way make it easier to load strollers, sports gear, or luggage without a fight. Impressive Technology Technology is one of the areas where the 2026 Hyundai Kona feels like it is punching above its price point. Every trim gets a large 12.3-inch center touchscreen, and higher trims pair it with a matching 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster for a clean, dual-screen look. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, so drivers can bring their maps, music, and podcasts along without hunting for a cable. Available wireless phone charging keeps the center console tidy, and Bluelink+ connected services let owners lock, unlock, or start their 2026 Hyundai Kona remotely from a smartphone. On the top trims, an available Bose premium audio system, an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot, and Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch add extra convenience. This includes the ability to share vehicle access with a family member's phone. Comprehensive Safety Hyundai equips the 2026 Kona with a comprehensive suite of standard driver-assistance features. Higher trims add a 360-degree surround view monitor, which makes tight parking lots and driveways much less stressful to navigate. The 2026 Hyundai Kona earned favorable child seat accommodation ratings, with two complete sets of LATCH connectors in the rear outboard seats. For families or anyone who wants extra peace of mind on daily drives, the 2026 Hyundai Kona safety suite holds up well against competitors. Standard Safety Technology Includes: Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist Blind-Spot Monitoring Lane-Keeping Assist Smart Cruise Control Stop and Go Functionality 2026 Hyundai Kona Price The 2026 Hyundai Kona price starts around $25,500 for the SE trim, which keeps it competitive with rivals. From there, pricing climbs in logical steps as trims add more comfort, technology, and eventually the turbocharged engine. All-wheel drive adds approximately $1,500 to any trim. Price by Trim Please note that the prices listed below are strictly estimates. Pricing excludes destination charges, tax, title, and license fees, and actual dealer pricing may vary, so shoppers should confirm final pricing with the dealership. SE: $25,500 – Equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a full suite of standard safety tech, and 17-inch alloy wheels. SEL Sport: $26,825 – Adds heated seats, wireless charging, gloss-black styling accents, roof rails, and 18-inch wheels. SEL Premium: $28,425 – Introduces the 190-horsepower turbocharged engine, the 8-speed automatic, dual 12.3-inch displays, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and 19-inch wheels. Limited: $32,535 – Adds a hands-free power tailgate, a surround view monitor, satin chrome accents, and the most refined interior finishes. Hyundai Warranty One of the most compelling advantages of the 2026 Hyundai Kona has nothing to do with horsepower or screens. Hyundai backs every 2026 Kona with a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, often referred to as America's Best Warranty. Owners also get 5 years of complimentary 24-hour roadside assistance with no mileage limit. For buyers who plan to keep their vehicle for the long haul, this kind of coverage provides real financial peace of mind that many competitors simply cannot match. 2022 Hyundai Kona – An SUV Dream

2022 Hyundai Kona - An SUV Dream

Once in a while you end up driving an SUV that delivers such a smooth, crisp ride, you forget that you are in an SUV. Expect that from the 2022 Hyundai Kona. To put it simply, the subcompact Kona is a great package that combines style, the feel of a car, and sensibility all while providing an elevated driving position you would expect from a SUV. Hyundai is known for providing a lot of features as standard features and the Kona is no exception. The higher trim levels come with even more features to keep your Hyundai SUV safe, connected, & comfortable. Because the Hyundai Kona is a subcompact SUV, it won’t have as much cargo space as a full-sized SUV. But what this vehicle lacks in space, it has more than made up for with it’s drivability and technology. Let’s dive into the details of this latest offering from Hyundai. What’s New On The 2022 Kona Hyundai has a good reputation for keeping up with the times. This year appears to be no different. Hyundai has given the 2022 Kona a complete makeover both inside and out. The new features will have you ohh and ahh over them. Exterior Features The exterior features start with an upgraded front end with stylish wheels to match. Throw in a new wide-mouth grille, a faux front, and updated exterior lights and people will be staring at you while you cruise down the street. As they watch you go by, they will also get to see the new rear skid plates that come standard. Interior Features The upgraded interior features are mainly technology focused but there are some comfort and safety improvements. A redesigned dashboard that includes digital display gages makes it easier to read your gages while driving. Prepare to be able to charge your phone wirelessly. A great feature for long road trips. The infotainment touchscreen has also grown to 10.3 inches making it easier to touch apps. Your backseat drivers, I mean passengers, will be pleased as well as the new Kona now has heated rear seats. Performance Features When it comes to an engine, how many horses do you want? According to Car & Driver, the SE & SEL Kona models come equipped with an 147-hp, four cylinder engine with a six speed automatic transmission while the Limited and N-Line Kona models come standard with an 195-hp, four cylinder engine with a seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. All 2022 Kona models deliver sharp handling on the road making this car really fun to drive. So again my question, how many horses do you want? Kona Fuel Economy With gas prices approaching $3.00 a gallon, fuel efficiency is at the top of our minds when we are looking to purchase our next car. The 2022 Hyundai Kona doesn’t disappoint. Depending on model, you can expect an average gas mileage of 32-33 mpg. Within its class, the Kona nearly leads the pack. Just one more way that Hyundai is not only trying to help the consumer save money on post-purchase costs, but helping to reduce the carbon footprint we leave as well. Safety Features On The Hyundai Kona Driver’s assistance features are all the rage and why not? Who doesn’t want to be safer and better protect ourselves from distraction. The new Kona comes standard with lane-keeping assist, emergency braking, and a driver-attention monitor. Additional safety features are available but optional. You can get a full report on all the safety features, from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety ( IHSS), here. 2022 Hyundai Kona N : Combining High-Performance Power With Functionality

The 2022 Hyundai Kona is Hyundai's first performance SUV/Crossover that has all the latest updates in performance, styling, and technology. The 286 HP engine paired with its stiff suspension, tight handling, and 19-inch alloy wheels make the 20-second N Grin Shift boost an absolute blast to drive. Find the 2022 Hyundai Kona for sale at Edmond Hyundai. The so called "N" brand has been a favorite by many for years now, and with the exciting news that Hyundai is now integrating the Kona into this performance lineup, Hyundai's new SUV/Crossover is bound to turn some heads on the road, and on the tracks. With its turbocharged engine, sport-tuned suspension/chassis, and an industry new "Drag Boost" feature, the Kona N is going to be a hot commodity when it comes out this spring. Engine & Performance As one of the main selling points of the Kona N this year, Hyundai's newest SUV heavily focuses on providing a sporty experience using all the latest engine tune-ups & improvements. Packing an exhilarating punch to the line is the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine in the Veloster N, outputting an enormous 286 horsepower with an N Grin Shift over boost function. This over boost function is essentially a 20-second burst of 10 additional horsepower for those moments when merging on the freeway or getting to that next green light on a time crunch. Believe us when we say this, it makes a huge difference in real-world situations, not to mention pressing a red button on a steering wheel for an engine boost makes you feel like you're straight out of a Men In Black movie. The Kona N Line sends all this torque out exclusively to the front wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (which was also recently added to the Veloster N model) and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. As of right now, Hyundai claims the Kona N will reach up to 62 mph in 5.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 150 mph total, making the 2022 Kona N Line one of the fastest SUVs ever made for production. Fuel Economy & Pricing Sadly, the EPA has yet to release any fuel economy estimates for the Kona N. However, we expect the performance N Line to be less efficient than the original model due to the 2.0L engine, which typically uses more gas than smaller engines. Sooner or later, we will have a chance to test out Kona N's highway and city fuel economy, in which we will release all that information here. For all the information already out about the Kona N's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website along with Hyundai's Kona N Line page for detailed updates. Pricing has also yet to be released. However, based on all the updates with hardware and performance, we are expecting to see an increase of about $10,000. This makes the estimated price for this SUV hotrod to be around $35,000, which is a highly competitive price for a 5.5 second launch time SUV. Driving Safety Updates Considering it has a massive list of sport performance features, safety is always an important factor when buying an SUV. As of writing this, we don't have a full list of all the safety features that are going to be included in the 2022 Kona N. However, standard safety features from similar Hyundai models such as the Veloster are expected to be introduced, including lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and automatic emergency braking. Obviously, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have yet to release any safety ratings considering the vehicle has yet to be released. More information on the safety ratings can be found on their sites along with Hyundai's updates on their site. Interior Technology & Entertainment Similar to the updated 2022 Kona, the N Line receives an updated 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster along with an identically sized infotainment screen that has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Integration. The highly recommended "Heads-Up" display is capable of communicating lap times and placing the driver at a specific location on a circuit - which we suppose is meant for pre-programmed racetracks. Our Final Thought While we hope to see an implementation of AWD capabilities soon, which we see as majorly important for an SUV, Hyundai's new 2022 Kona N Line is a brand new, exciting addition and Hyundai's first performance SUV model. The 286 HP engine paired with its stiff suspension, tight handling, and 19-inch alloy wheels make the 20-second N Grin Shift boost an absolute blast to drive regardless of where you are. And with a price tag that is expected to hit below $35,000, Kona's new features are sure to hit the mark directly on the head for an affordable, performance SUV.
